The article studies the multifaceted role of folk motives in variety and jazz compositions, reveals their symbolic and semantic meaning. Folk motives, which are bearers of cultural heritage, become a powerful means of enriching music bringing a unique flavor and emotional depth. The article analyzes different aspects of integrating folk motives into variety and jazz works, as well as their influence on listeners’ perception of music. Special attention is paid to the symbolism of folk motives that reflect natural phenomena, labor, love and religious beliefs. The interaction of jazz and folklore is considered as a harmonious and productive process contributing to the mutual enrichment and preservation of both musical traditions. Preserving the cultural context of folk motives at their adaptation to jazz is a key prerequisite for successful synthesis.
