Semantics of names in A.S. Pushkin's novel “Eugene Onegin”

This article analyzes the anthroponymic system of the novel in the poems of A.S. Pushkin "Eugene Onegin", which is one of the most important components of a literary work. Literary proper names are an interesting object of study both from a linguistic and literary point of view. The study of onomastics is important for the development of literature and literary studies. Literary names, being an integral part of the language, are organically connected with its main function - the function of communication. A proper name, like any lexical unit, strives for clarity, concreteness, and brevity to perform this function. The functional abilities of poetonyms are based on the potential of proper names as a linguistic category.
