Word composition is one of the productive ways of word building in the German language. Based on the group of compound words with the first component schwarz- it has been proved that these coloronims form a rather varied morphologically and semantically layer of German lexis. Very often they name the objects of wildlife (plants, mushrooms, animals), items of crafts (industrial processes, etc.) and agriculture, professions, food, minerals. The author has found out a tendency towards acquiring a figurative meaning by such words where a component schwarz - gets the semantics of illegality for denoting activity and action, negativity for denoting world perception and mood, magic for denoting magic actions.
