Family ties away from home: how migrants build marriage strategies in Russia

The article examines the interaction of Russian society with migrants in the marriage and family sphere. Particular attention is paid to how contacts in other fields affect the marital behavior of migrants. There is also the influence of key factors that determine their marital status, including their socio-economic status, cultural traditions, and the impact of changes in migration policy. Interethnic marriages are considered as one of the ways to unite people of different ethnic, racial and religious groups, as well as the problems associated with fictitious marriages. At the same time, it studies how long family separation affects marriage and family relationships, as well as how gender affects marital migration. The study shows that migrants' marriage strategies are multifaceted and complex.
