The article discusses the topical issues of the renaissance of ethnic identity in the Republic of Altai. The role of family in the reproduction of ethnic identity of Altai, Russian and Kazakh ethnic groups is analyzed. The features determining the choice of a certain ethnic identity are defined. The authors consider the basic stages of ethnic socialization of a child in the Altai ethnos.
