Seasonal and year-to-year variability of the 557.7 nm atomic oxygen atmospheric emission

This paper is concerned with seasonal and year-to-year variability of the 557.7 nm atomic oxygen atmospheric emission intensity and its dependence on solar activity in the solar cycle 23. We have used experimental observational data on the 557.7 nm emission obtained in Eastern Siberia over the period 1997-2008, and the atmospheric model NRLMSIS-00. Some 557.7 nm emission characteristics under consideration show differences between the experimental observational data and the model approximations for the solar cycle 23. Possible causes of the differences are discussed.
