Charles Masson "Secret memoirs about Russia" - history of creation and translations

This article analyzes the memoirs of the French writer about Russia during his direct stay in the country during the reign of Catherine 2 and Paul 1. The history of creation of this work is presented. The stylistic and linguistic features of the text are analyzed. The comparative analysis of the original text with the fragments translated into Russian is made.
