Combination of several non-specific provoking factors with genetic background (shifting Th1/Th2 system homeostasis) may result in starting of humoral (B-cell) immune reaction against glial cells of the olfactory brain. Subsequent neuroinflammation and astrocyte and oligodendrocyte cells neurodegeneration disturb the metabolism of some important structures in brainstem reticular formation which involved in regulation of sleep-wakefulness cycle. Hyperexcitation of waking system neurons leads to significant sleep pattern changes. Consequently “compensatory sleep” of the selected brain regions is developed, that result in attention deficit, pseudohallucinations and delusions. We believe that the inhalation therapy with cytokine mixture can restore of Th1/Th2 cytokine balance and promote against the processes of neuroinflammation, with the glial cells proliferation. Clinically it’s manifested by normalization of sleep cycle structure, increased function of attention, elimination of positive symptoms and remission, often with negative and cognitive symptoms reduction.
