"Shomshorgo or kholbolgo" as an element of traditional shamanic attributes

The article discusses the traditional shamanic attribute "Shomshorgo or Kholbolgo". For a shaman, his traditional attire plays an important role. The traditional attire of a shaman demonstrates his dignity, his strength. In ancient times, it was believed that the more various attributes on a shaman's attire, the stronger the shaman. In that case there is a large number of different items on the shaman's costume. Each item on the shamanic costume has its own meaning, it is important to note that shamanic attributes were designed in different periods of time. There are some attributes that have been preserved since the time of battue hunting, while some appeared during the period of cattle breeding. “Shomshorgo or Kholbolgo” can be called one of the oldest shamanic attributes, which was used not only on shamanic clothes, but also on other items, such as a cane, a headdress, a drum, etc. The description of this item is presented in M. N. Khangalov’s diary of 1910-1911. M. N. Khangalov is an ethnographer, an educator, a folklorist, he was engaged in the study of the traditional culture of the Buryats, the preservation of fairy tales, legends and beliefs.
