Strokes to the portrait of the Russian student of the end of the XIX century

The authors, on a particular example, analyze the specifics of education in Russian universities of the late 19th century. The publication is based on the documents from the personal file of student V. S. Yashpon from the archives of the University of Tartu and on the related photos from the home archives of A.V. Bogachev.
