Abstract. The article tells about Swedish fine art of the 19th century using the works of four artists as an example: Johan Philip Korn (1728–1796), Gustav Ericsson Fischer (1846–1893), Axel Wilhelm Nordgren (1828–1888), Franz Odelmark (1849–1937). The work is based on the materials of the examination archive of the State Research Institute for Restoration (GOSNIIR). The uniqueness of the material lies in the fact that it concerns little-known paintings by Swedish masters, which depict peasant and religious scenes, a portrait of the Swedish king Gustav III and a magnificent landscape with a fjord. The story about the paintings is accompanied by illustrations. The article also touches upon the relations between the countries of Northern Europe and Russia in the 19th century, and tells about the prominent representatives of the Swedish art world who shaped the artistic thought of this region.
