Extensive literature is devoted to the judicial reform of 1864. In recent years, biographies of famous Russian lawyers and collections of their speeches have been published. Much less attention is paid to those who prepared and implemented new Judicial statutes. Some of them were undeservedly forgotten. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of S.I. Zarudny in the preparation of Judicial statutes of November 20, 1864.
