Siberian text by I.A. Goncharov (based on the book "Frigate "Pallada")

The article describes “Siberian Chapters” of I.A. Goncharov's journey-notes, insufficiently studied by specialists. The goal of the article is to reconstruct the image of Siberia as it was seen by Goncharov. Results of the research.The writer made ethnographic sketches, focused on the linguistic features of the Siberians, created his own image of Siberia, emphasising the quality of territorial originality, huge spaces and vastness as well as severity of the climate, great potential for the development of the region. He created a vivid image of the Siberian devotee. The chapters of the “Frigate “Pallada” are, on the one hand, in the tradition of depicting the image of Siberia by Russian writers and, on the other, demonstrate the things stressed only by Goncharov.
