The symbolic dimensions of the identity politics

The article deals with the identity politics as a symbolic practice of social and political reality designing and as an instrument of symbolic politics. It is noted, that every country carries out an identity politics, along with a memory politics in an attempt to build a unified political community as a civil nation. The author considers the essence of the identity politics mechanisms and its symbolic dimensions, as well as resources of the political myth and ritual used in the identity politics and embodied in such a form of collective action as a political holiday.
