Symbolization of the ornament language: zoomorphic ornament as a symbol of culture

The article analyzes the ornament as a sociocultural phenomenon in the framework of the philosophy of design. The study focuses on the consideration of the ornament in the semiotic aspect that led to the use of the dialectical method, system approach and semiotic analysis, revealing the specificity of functioning of the language of ornament as a system education. It is proved that art works apply a variety of symbolism. It is shown that the zoomorphic symbolism formalized in the ornament language system is involved in the process of symbolization of decorative art and saturates the images with polyphonic meanings.
