Syncretic theory of formation and development of new meanings (cognitive-semantic approach)

The article describes a cognitive-matrix network method that combines cognitive and semantic approaches to the formation and development of the meanings of syncretic forms. As a result of the use of the method in the analysis of syncretic forms, such an urgent problem for linguistics as the distinction between metaphor and metonymy is solved. The article develops the cognitive foundations of the semantic processes of formation and development of new meanings of syncretic forms and presents its own "syncretic theory of the formation and development of new meanings (cognitive-semantic approach)".
