The article investigates the synonymic row of words meaning the process of theft in the German language. The synonymic row with the dominant word «stehlen» (to steal) is described as a dynamic phenomenon, reflecting changes in the society, and is viewed as a means of fixing new knowledge about the world, connected with the new ways, objects, and other indications of theft.
