Synonyms in the unwritten Chamalal language

The article raises the insufficiently studied problem of synonyms description of the Dagestani unwritten languages. The research focuses on the analysis of synonyms variety in the Chamalal language, in the course of which the presence of absolute and relative or ideographic forms has been defined in the language. In the result of the first attempt of the detailed description of the methods of synonyms' forming the author has identified the following types of them: derivation, adoption, dialectal synonymy, replacement of words by idioms and euphemisms. Synonyms form rows from two-words to verbose. During the study we have identified eight members of the synonymic series in the Chamalal language. Synonymic pairs are formed within the appropriate parts of speech. Unlike verbs and adverbs, which are presented poorer, models of substantives and adjectives are the most productive. There are less synonyms in the other parts of speech.
