The system of values and political ideals of naval officers during the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905

The subject of the article is the system of values and political ideals of naval officers, which were developed during the whole course of their conscious life and which they managed to maintain throughout the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. The author concludes that the system of values allowed the officer corps to display patriotism and heroism during military combat operations throughout the period under review. At the same time it is noted that the political ideal of naval officers formed on the basis of love for the Fatherland and the Tsar, the desire to ensure the protection and prosperity of Russia, so their morale and fighting spirit is assessed as high. Nevertheless, the patriotism, heroism, and personal valor displayed in the 1904-1905 war campaign could not change the overall course of the war.
