The ski tourism state regulation system in Russia: the potential, problems, prospects and ways for development

The formation of a management system for the development of ski tourism in Russia is becoming increasingly important in light of the dynamic growth in demand for this type of tourism. Thus, for the 2023-2024 season, the flow of tourists to ski resorts in the Russian Federation increased by 15% and amounted to 6 million people. Today, Russia is among the top 10 countries in terms of the number of visits to ski resorts. At the same time, the level of development of high-quality ski infrastructure in Russia remains uneven among regions and relatively low in comparison with the world leaders in the field of ski tourism (France, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, etc.). Today, it is necessary to strive to create high-quality ski infrastructure, increase the proportion of Russians who own alpine skis or snowboards, as well as improve the level of service at ski resorts. An effective system of state management of ski tourism development is aimed at streamlining this process on the part of the state apparatus and allows optimizing the use of tourist resources in the field of ski tourism, implements programs and projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Russian resorts that are leaders in the field of ski tourism, ensuring sustainable development of ski areas, attracting investment in tourist ski infrastructure. The development of ski tourism not only contributes to the economic growth of regions, but also helps to develop sports culture, improve public health and strength the country's image on the world stage. Thus, it is important to continue working on the introduction of project and marketing approaches to managing the development of the national tourism complex and the implementation of measures aimed at improving the system of state management of ski tourism development in Russia to ensure its sustainable and successful development meeting international standards and the needs of modern tourists, both in the domestic and international markets.
