System and mechanism of crime investigation

Introduction: The article draws attention to such a scientific and forensic category as the mechanism of investigation; despite the direct relation of this concept to the subject of forensic science, it has not yet been the subject of comprehensive study, the range of phenomena and objects of material reality that relate to it has not been determined. Materials and methods: to obtain the presented results of the study, general scientific methods were used, such as observation, description, comparison, etc., as well as logical methods of analysis, synthesis, deduction and induction, based on materialistic dialectics as a universal method of forensic science. The result of the study: as a result, it was possible to justify the allocation of the investigation mechanism as a separate scientific and forensic category different from the concept of the investigation system. In addition, a fair thesis has been made about the presence within the crime investigation mechanism of a certain system that does not coincide with many existing ideas about this phenomenon. Findings and Conclusions: as a result of the study, the following theses were put forward as conclusions: a) the mechanism for investigating a crime can be considered as a special case of the system and as a category that has a core investigation system; b) the investigation system underlying the mechanism, as we imagine it, does not have as its substrate individual state bodies carrying out preliminary investigation and inquiry, and the stages of the investigation are not the basis for the formation of the structure of the system and the mechanism of investigation; c) the main approach of considering the investigation mechanism as one of the forms of the system is structural and functional, implemented through a narrower concept - structure in its connection with the functions of individual components; d) a common form of implementation by an element of the mechanism of its function is the ability to make changes.
