The system of election commissions: some problems of legal regulation

The research considers certain issues of legal regulation of the activities of election commissions in the Russian Federation. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that election commissions, as state bodies, play an important role in the formation of democratic institutions and ensuring the right of citizens to participate in the management of state affairs. The author of the work identified problematic aspects of the functioning of the system of election commissions. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that election commissions are bodies with a special legal status that allows them to implement the principle of democracy and ensure the will of the people in the process of elections and referendums.
