The article considers the balanced scorecard as a tool for assessing and improving the effectiveness of the organization. The structure of a generalized model of a balanced scorecard as a strategic management tool is considered in detail. The key tasks of the generalized BSC model are identified, which are closely interconnected. The most significant theoretical provisions of the application of the generalized BSC model are systematized. At the end, a conclusion is drawn on the effectiveness of the BSC in increasing the effectiveness of strategic management of organizations in the commercial sector, in connection with the accumulated experience in application.
