Female characters in the plays by A. Arbuzov: identifying the problem

The presented paper is devoted to the actual problem: interest in understanding personality and its inner features as we see them today, on the one hand, and the role of women in Russian drama, coming from the XIX century, on the other hand. The phenomenon of the female idea as the dominant one, the role of Yin in Russian drama were identified in literary criticism not long ago. Considering the problem results in grasping the moral universals - a common thing for Russian drama in general and A.N.Arbuzov’s works in particular.
