The historical and legal aspects of countering the spread of drug addiction on the territory of Bashkortostan are highlighted. Based on the documents of the Soviet period and modern statistics introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, it is proved that the comprehensive measures taken in the republic to counter drug trafficking were previously and are now a significant factor in ensuring regional security. Bashkortostan's experience in systemic counteraction to drug trafficking is also in demand at the federal level.
