This is a research article scrutinizes the role of enterprise balanced scorecards (EBS) in the strategic management of an organization. Their importance is emphasized not only as a management tool, but also as a strategic resource that allows organizations to adapt and successfully develop in the digital economy. The authors ascertain the monitoring indicators as interrelated components, arguing that each strategic decision made on the basis of the EBS can have an impact on all indicators of the system. The article also raises the issue of the necessity of processing the results of group opinion of managers and their involvement in the formation of organizational strategy. DEMATEL method, designed to analyze cause-and-effect relationships in the decision-making process, is the basis of the article. The authors argue that the use of the DEMATEL method in Russian scientific and business practice is not at the proper level, which reduces the efficiency of decision-making. The aim of the article is to demonstrate the application of the DEMATEL method in the process of EBS development and to substantiate its significance for improving the effectiveness of strategic management of organizations in Russia.
