This article reveals the pedagogical possibilities of role-playing game as a means of forming ideas about the measuring activity of children of preschool age. Practical and game activity of children and economic activity of adults - a basis for acquaintance with the simplest ways of various measurements. In the story-role-playing game with mathematical content, children's knowledge is not only refined and expanded, but also because of their repeated, practical and effective reproduction is transformed, qualitatively changed, become conscious and generalized. Therefore, the story game is characterized as a form of practical knowledge of reality, as a way of transition from ignorance to knowledge. Reflecting in the games the activities of adults, in which the child is practically not yet able to participate, he really reproduces the most interesting, imprinted labor processes of adults.
