Scandinavian borrowings in the Russian language in the lexical and semantic field “Food”

Th e article examines the processes of assimilation of Scandinavian borrowings in the Russian language in the lexical and semantic fi eld “food”. Th e analysis covers 9 Scandinavian loanwords in the Russian language, divided into categories. Using corpus linguistics methods, in particular, the analysis of the frequency of use of words in the National Corpus of the Russian Language, three levels of assimilation were identifi ed: low, medium and high. Special att ention is paid to the phenomenon of semantic narrowing of borrowed lexemes in the Russian language, which demonstrates the process of their adaptation and functional integration.
