Linkov’s monograph is devoted to an important, relevant, but little-studied topic: Chekhov’s skepticism and faith. For the writer, skepticism was not an end in itself, but only a “method” of fi nding the truth. The work reveals the uniqueness of Chekhov’s artistic task, which raised the question of the criteria of true faith.
