The article considers the modern approaches to the study of social mobility of the Russian population in general and young people in particular. The author discusses the structure of social mobility, including economic, labour and professional mobility, which determine the speed and direction of movement. The paper outlines the problematic research niches that require in-depth study of the social mobility phenomenon with application of sociological tools.
