Very early maturing sunflower variety Skormas

Skormas is very early maturing sunflower variety. It was developed in the laboratory of OP sunflower varieties breeding of the All-Russian research institute of oil crops by Pustovoit V.S. in 2010-2015. The variety was created by multiple individual selections from oil variety SUR with estimation of progenies and open cross-pollination of the best families on productivity, morphometric traits, and resistance to broomrape of the different origins, dry rot, tolerant to Phomopsis. The main features of the variety, compared to the standard variety SUR, are uniformity on plant height, flowering and maturity, improved head position, the economically valuable traits are kept on the high level. Plant height of the variety Skormas is 142-151 cm. Weight of 1000 seeds is about 60 g at plant population 40,000 pieces per ha. The sunflower variety Skormas is introduced into the State register of breeding achievements permitted for production since 2018 in the Central Chernozem region. Originator is the All-Russian research institute of oil crops by Pustovoit V.S.
