Hidden means of influencing the mass consciousness in the texts of the media

In the article it is considered the role, value and correlation of two functions that determine the activities of modern media: information and impact. The tendency of the modern information society towards the approval of the impact function as a priority is noted. Phraseological units are singled out as one of the most effective means of latent linguistic influence on the consciousness of consumers of media texts on the example of the German media segment. Effective methods of using phraseological units in order to manipulate the mass consciousness are highlighted.
