The urgent problem today is the development of the ideology that meets the needs of the Russian state and society. The lack of state ideology enshrined in the Constitution demonstrates rather the commitment to liberalism, than to other doctrines. The extreme form of liberalism is libertarianism. The article is devoted to the problem of the libertarian ideological and political doctrine. The authors indicate its two main branches in the world. Minarchism is determined as the dominant among them in modern Russia. On the example of the work of the two most famous Russian adherents of minarchism, the weak points of the libertarian view of the development of law are identified.
