To determine what the current Russian view on Slovenia and its culture and science, we carried out scientific monitoring of studies and works, published in Russian at the turn of 20th-21st centuries. That resulted in a very clear insight of how Slovenians and Russians have interested in each other as well as to identify common interests, common ground and the internal differences that determine the uniqueness and individuality of each of the nations. Perception of Slovenian culture in Russia was studied in the following directing: translations of literary works of Slovenian authors in Russian language and the type of these publications; scientific and popular studies (Slovenian history, philosophy, literature and culture in general); scientific meetings and the most important cultural Slovenian-Russian events on the territory of Russia. The process of forming (in Russia) the image of the small Slavic country, separated from the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and trying as a new state to show to the world its own identity, distinguished from the cultivated earlier (nominal) whole image of the fraternal peoples of the Yugoslavia, to withdraw from the association with the previous context, is interesting from the cultural-historical point of view.
