The work is devoted to the study of “Edifying Word”, the final part of one of the works of the saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite (1749-1809), entitled “A Guide to Confession” (Ἐξομολογητάριον). In the article, the author identifies the sources of the “Word”, the atitude of St. Nicodemus and the atitude of St. Nicodemus and his contemporaries to borrowing from Western literature, and then presents a textual and theological analysis of the work. Te article will be of interest to a wide audience interested in the work of the St. Nicodemus and his era and the theological trends in Greek Church literature of the XVIIIth century
