The article deals with cognitive complexity as a necessity. The authors consider the current situation in the society and education, where the lack of the ability to think for themselves prevents people from getting to the bottom of the events happening. The significance of an event is determined not by own interpretations, but by ideas imposed from outside. The authors analyze the modern education, which used to be a better educational environment. The article addresses the question of the current consumer society, which represents contemporary reality as a set of useful things and “right” people, where the interests of some people prevail, rather than the interests of the society.
