"Difficult moments" of the biography of K. D. Ushinsky

The article makes an attempt to outline the prospects for researching the biography of K. D. Ushinsky for the modern national history of pedagogy, which seems important in the year of the 200th anniversary of K. D. Ushinsky and the associated actualization of his pedagogical heritage in the Year of Teacher and Mentor. The need for a more complex, abandoning the usual Soviet and pre-revolutionary ideologies in the interpretations of the factors that influenced the pedagogical activities of K. D. Ushinsky, the system of research on his biography is being proved. The article considers some options for further studying the biography of the great Russian teacher: alternatives to his life path, Ushinsky's interaction with state representatives in the development of domestic education, a study of the formation of the "Ushinsky phenomenon" in the domestic pedagogical consciousness in different historical eras, up to the present.
