The death penalty: panacea against crime or a violation of the constitutional right to life?

The article is devoted to the study of the validity of the existence of the death penalty in the current criminal legislation. The author argues that the existence of this type of punishment is contrary to the constitutional right to life and draws attention to the fact that the death penalty does not affect the dynamics of crime, including murder. Refers to foreign experience and suggests that in a number of foreign countries the death penalty is excluded from the system of criminal penalties. He concludes that it is necessary to abolish the death penalty at the legislative level by making appropriate amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the criminal code.
