The general description of modern family and family relations is given. The authors present the ethical and philosophical analysis of the works of an outstanding psychologist V. Satir on the issues of modern family and family relations development. The study highlights such crucial factors of family relations as self-esteem, family communication problem, compliance with and transformation of established family rules and principles of conduct, as well as the development of family and social relations. The research focuses on the problems of self-esteem and reflection of the personality as an important part of family relations. As for family communication, V. Satir identifies the following communication models: placater (non-assertive), blamer, computer, distractor, and leveler (assertive). The specific features of the rule system, ethical standards, and principles of family behavior are determined. Besides, the basic ethical categories and feelings such as love, friendship, fear, and rage are distinguished. The research analyzes the problem field of family and society and reveals the influence of family and social relations on the upbringing of a child.
