Semantic reading in foreign language lessons as one of the ways of developing general educational skills

This article considered the theoretical aspects of the development of general educational skills in foreign language lessons, gives a characteristic of such concepts as general educational skills, educational and communicative competence; analyzed their relationship. The ability to develop general educational skills in foreign language lessons is substantiated by teaching students to use various strategies of semantic reading when working with a foreign language text.
