The monodrama “Der Kontrabaß" (2009) was written by G. Korchmar after the same name play of P. Süskind. In this monodrama there are two psychological dramas: of a "little man" and a musical instrument that is regarded as another unfortunate person. The personification is externalized in many respects by a variety of intertextual links: there are reminiscences of classic music of Mozart, Brahms, Saint-Saёns, Schubert, Wagner, R. Strauss, and others. The intertextual artistic method “prompted" by Süskind has allowed Korchmar not only to express a complex psychological content, but also to create a sort of double-bass music anthology and dictionary of the instrument’s expressive possibilities.
