Sergei Durylin: a scholar of M.Y. Lermontov’s works

This paper gives an overview of the scholarship of Sergei N. Durylin about Mikhail Lermontov, which considers the person and works of the poet from the standpoint of his Christian worldview and “initial religiousness”. The author shows the polemical character of this scholarship and contrasts it with works of a positivist character. Durylin’s views of Lermontov’s poetics are also considered.
