Collegiality or a “swarm feeling”? (Russian world of 1812 in “War and peace” of L. N. Tolstoy)

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of national unity in Russia in 1812 and its interpretation in the epic novel by L. N. Tolstoy “War and Peace”. By the material of the Russian publicism of the Patriotic War with Napoleon the strictly Christian character of the Russian worldview of that time, strengthened and inspired by the resistance to the enemy invasion is revealed. Tolstoy’s idea of natural sources of national character is analyzed. Considered in the comparison of the category of conciliarity and swarming feelings. The correlation between the traditional (historical) and revolutionary (modern) spiritual principles is determined in the novel-epic.
