The article gives a description of the composition of the Buddhist canonical collection Kanjur in the Mongolian language. The set of this 108-volume collection of Buddhist texts, published by the Indian Mongol scholar L. Chandra in 1973, is stored in the Scientific Archive of the Kalmyk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It entered as part of the personal library of the famous Buddhist clergyman Tugmyud-gavji (O.M. Dordzhiev) in the early 1980s. It contains over 1100 essays. All these texts are, for the most part, of ancient Indian origin, differ in their volume and subject matter. Consider the essay “Em-e yaqai-yin uqayan-i ogulekui neretu sudur” (“Sutra titled “The Pig’s Thought”) included in the 10th section of “Eldeb” (Tib. mdo sna tshogs ‘collection of sutras’), give a meaningful overview, describe genre affiliation, identify common features with other canonical works. Based on the analysis of the content, the characteristic features of the compositions from the category of sutras and avadans were revealed. An analysis of the text showed that the content is fully consistent with the unified construction plan characteristic of the works of this collection: listing the titles of the work in different languages, the formula of worship, an introductory phrase, indicating the location, listing the listeners, the sermon (admonitions) of the Buddha, his answers to the questions posed and closing words, expressions of joy on the part of the listeners and praise of the words of the Buddha. The semantics of the image of a pig (female boar), recorded in the title of the work and mentioned in the text, is considered: it is drawn in order to show how negative the upcoming rebirth of the son of tengri was. The main meaning of this essay is to search for the spiritual path, to enter it and follow it relentlessly.
