The article discusses the main features of socialization of orphans and special needs children without parental care. The paper highlights the main problems which these children have throughout life. The authors define socialization as the necessary condition for the full development of orphans. The article also indicates the need to improve this process, because, despite the significant theoretical development and practical research, the socialization of orphans requires new thinking with regard to social changes and improvement of social policy in relation to these groups of children. The authors provide a brief review of the literature on the stated subject, outline the main directions of scientific research of this aspect and reflect the interrelation of the process of socialization and adaptation. On the basis of the presented research the authors consider the social and psychological training as a means of successful socialization of orphans and special needs children without parental care. Considerable attention is paid to the description of the social and psychological training as one of the means of socialization and their characteristics. The authors study the main subjects and objectives of the trainings conducted in the course of practical research.
