Students’ social adaptation in the educational process

The article analyzes the process of social adaptation of students in higher education. The interconnection of adaptation with the processes of social engagement is carried out. The purpose of the study is to consider the adaptation process as a necessary phenomenon for successful activity in the educational space. The author defines the concept of motivation, identifies the main varieties of motives. Summarizing the many definitions of social adaptation, we came to the conclusion that the process in question affects the assimilation by a person of social roles, norms and values of society in accordance with the activities of the individual. From the point of view of many researchers, the basis for social adaptation is the idea of developing students' ability to choose adaptation strategies that allows them to assert themselves and fulfill themselves. The study concluded that the influence of social adaptation on the process of socialization, the purpose of which is to help students to choose their place on a societal scale and to recognize themselves as a full member of it.
