The article describes three theories covering, according to the author, the main issues of explaining the causes of criminal (deviant) behavior. In particular, the theory of social learning is highlighted, demonstrating the influence of the environment on the choice of a particular line of behavior, the theory of social disorganization, showing the distribution of crime by districts, including cities, and also a biological approach is considered, determining the possibilities of using the achievements of genetics in explaining the propensity of an individual to criminal behavior. Attention is drawn to the problematic issues of applying the theory, an assessment of the possibility of their separate application is given without taking into account additional factors affecting the manifestation of crime. The arguments of the need for an integrated approach in the explanation of crime are presented.
