The purpose of the work is to briefly characterize the possibilities of socio-anthropological and cognitive approaches, among those known in jurisprudence and jurislinguistics, in describing classical models of extremist behavior and in identifying the ideological settings of conflict texts and reconstructing social rituals. Formal-legal, comparative, structural-functional methods, and individual techniques of linguo-expertological and psycholinguistic tools were used. Of the selected methodological principles, the most important are the objectivity of the assessment of facts and events, the neutrality of the research position, and consideration of the socio-political context. The article summarizes the approaches available in the arsenal of various concepts and examines those stated in the topic with an emphasis on their capabilities in developing an adequate system for countering extremism. The significance of the work also lies in the fact that it examines the specifics of extremist behavior patterns and thinking as strictly pragmatic and motivated by corresponding ideologies, due to the normal functioning of the psyche and cognitive distortions.
