Social and historical models in higher education

The article studies higher education institutionalization process, its key characteristics at the pre-institutional and institutional development stages as well as the tendency of modern higher education institutional transformation in conditions of transforming to information society. The author establishes her views on the postindustrial society theory, A. Tofflers conception of «three waves» in particular.
