The article comprehensively analyzes the socio-historical prerequisites for the formation of political culture of Russian university students in the post-Soviet period. The processes associated with the transition from planned economy to market economy and the impact of post-Soviet reforms on the social and educational structures of the country are studied. The article pays special attention to the large-scale economic transformations that contributed to the emergence of new social realities and changes in the value orientations of young people. Information openness, which resulted from the rapid development of technology, is considered as one of the key factors stimulating the growth of civic activity and critical thinking of students. The article analyzes changes in educational programs aimed at integrating disciplines related to politics and sociology. It also emphasizes the importance of forming organizational and pedagogical conditions that provide a deep understanding of political processes. The findings demonstrate that an integrated approach in education contributes to the development of a sustainable political position and active participation in public processes. This is crucial for the future of the country. The findings of the study suggest that the modernization of the higher education system and active involvement of students in political life contribute to the formation of a mature civic position. This is an important prerequisite for the sustainable development of the state.
